About your guide

This adventure is self-guided but full support is provided (including a phone assistance service) by your experienced and passionate and qualified local WAM team. Detailed instructions of your route are provided and your pick up transfer at the end of the day.

It’s time to wander the wonder of Wonga!

This incredible self-guided adventure is suitable for most biking abilities (we do recommend a moderate level of fitness and of course you must be able to ride a bike) and provides you with a fully supported service from your WAM! team including special digital route map with hidden gems and bike trails highlighted.

Your journey starts by the iconic 19th-century lighthouse at McCrae beach. Enjoy the white sands, clear waters and beach boxes of McCrae, and perhaps grab a coffee from Merchant & Maker.

Once you have parked up and ready to go, set off along the stunning bay cruising the bike tracks along the beachfront to Arthurs Seat Eagle Base Station. Now it’s time for the jaw-dropping scenery, as you head to the special mountain bike entrance and take your bike on the Arthurs Seat Eagle gondola uplift to the summit. The views get better and better as the gondola rises and keep an eye out for the Melbourne city skyline in the distance. The focal point of the Mornington Peninsula, Arthurs Seat (known as Wonga to the Boon Wurrung people), rising 1000ft above sea level, the highest point of the surrounding landscape shows off jaw-dropping views, stunning forests and bushland full of wildlife, and a plethora of awesome mountain bike trails for all abilities.

Once at the summit, take your time enjoying the views before riding the short track to the mountain biking trails of Arthurs Seat State Park. Take it easy and listen out for the birdlife and watch out for the wildlife as you go.

The trails meander down towards Dromana and a hub of incredible craft breweries, distilleries, cideries, and even an urban winery. Park up your bikes and head in to relax (we will pick up the bikes later) and try your included tasting paddle. We give you a choice to try tasting paddles (or equivalent drink) at Jetty Road Brewery, Jimmy Rum Distillery, Bass & Flinders Distillery, Two Bays Brewery, Mr Little Cider or Rhino Tiger Bear Winery.

*We will contact you at the time of booking for which venue you choose and we will make the booking for you. Once you have tried a few of the breweries and distilleries, your WAM team will come and collect you (feel free to order take homes as we’ll also pick these up), and drop you back at the starting point or at your Mornington Peninsula accommodation if required.

Note: if driving please have a designated driver, who can also order non-alcoholic drinks instead of the tasting paddles.

This experience is for riders bringing their own mountain bikes for the day.
